Attacking summer signings have yet to really step up, with neither Vincent Janssen or Georges-Kevin N’Koudou scoring in open play.
England’s Adam Lallana in action with Netherlands’ Quincy Promes
One player they were linked with making a move for in the summer was Quincy Promes, with The Mail reporting Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino scouted the winger.
Promes remained at Spartak Moscow, for who he signed in 2014, and has begun the season in impressive form.
Already this season he has scored five goals in 10 Russian Premier League matches, and provided six assists.
The 24-year-old winger has played four of his 10 games up front rather than out side, displaying a versatility which could have proved useful for Tottenham this season.
Austria’s Florian Klein and Netherland’s Quincy Promes
Part of what makes Promes interesting to Tottenham is his international partnership with Vincent Janssen for Holland, who Spurs signed from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
Promes’ form for Spartak Moscow could yet see Spurs revive their interest in January or next summer if he keeps it up, while other clubs are likely to be on high alert over his performances.
He fits the profile of player Tottenham are looking to add to their squad, and is not cup tied in the Champions League, should the North London side progress to the last 16 and want to add him mid-season.
