Despite a 1-0 reverse to Aston Villa, Eden Hazard was still Chelsea’s best player at Villa Park.

Despite playing every game for Chelsea this season and topping both their goals and assists chart, the Eden Hazard just keeps producing.

He may not have created any goals at Villa Park – a ground Jose Mourinho has never won at – but the Belgian still shone in the final-third for Chelsea.

And the fact that Mourinho’s men could not breach the Villa defence may be no fault of Hazard’s, as Opta stats show:

In another strong attacking performance, the 23-year-old managed to make five successful dribbles, 31 accurate final-third passes and 58 accurate passes overall.

In all three of these areas, the Belgian was his side’s key man. Not only did the likes of Fernando Torres, Oscar and Willian not compare favourably – they simply let Hazard down.

It is no wonder Mourinho keeps putting his faith in the young attacking midfielder – and the sky could be the limit should he continue this kind of form.

He will only hope his team-mates rise to the occasion with him in future.
