Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to reveal that Manchester City are now leading the race to sign Arsenal target Savinho.

What’s the story?

Well, the Atletico Mineiro wonderkid is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal.

However, it now seems as if the Gunners should prepare themselves for disappointment.

Romano believes Manchester City have submitted a bid worth €6.5m (£5.4m) plus add-ons and a sell-on clause for Savinho.

Arsenal, as well as the Red Bull Group, have also made contact to sign the 17-year-old, but they are currently fighting a losing battle.

Manchester City have even plotted out their plan for Savinho, with the teenager expected to join PSV Eindhoven on loan if the deal goes through.

You can see what Romano wrote on Twitter in full below.

Lastly, Romano also adds that talks are continuing between Manchester City and Atletico Mineiro.

Arsenal must outdo Manchester City

Not many clubs can compete with Manchester City in the market, but Arsenal have to do whatever they can to land Savinho.

The Citizens have already hoovered up a number of Brazilian gems who could become the next Gabriel Martinelli, such as Kayky.

With Edu at the helm, someone who has strong contacts in Brazil, you would like to think Arsenal can pose a serious challenge to Manchester City in this race.

£5.4m isn’t a lot of money for Premier League clubs, and Arsenal’s budget definitely stretches much further than that, as we found out when the Gunners bid for Dusan Vlahovic in January (Tutto Mercato Web).

Keep an eye on this saga – until Savinho is holding up a Manchester City shirt, Arsenal still have a chance to sign him.
