There’s plenty of news from the Championship with Middlesbrough, Watford and Derby County hard at work, while both Celtic and Rangers have made a few changes too.

A new marksman at Middlesbrough?

With Josh Maja heading back to England with Fulham, the door has suddenly opened for Middlesbrough to add a new striker to their ranks – one who tasted promotion from the Championship last season.

Aboubakar Kamara has been told he is free to leave Craven Cottage and, according to the Northern Echo, Neil Warnock’s Boro are in talks over a loan deal for the maverick striker.

Meanwhile, Britt Assombalonga is expected to stay after a move to Bristol City – which might have seen Famara Diedhiou go the other way – failed to materialise.

Who signed Kenny?

For most of January, it seemed that Burnley was the most likely destination for Everton’s seldom-seen right-back.

But that was until Jeremie Frimpong swapped Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen. Suddenly, the Glasgow giants had a place to fill in their starting XI and England U21 international Kenny will arrive to do just that.

“We just need the paperwork to be finished,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells the Record, confirming that the Liverpool-born youngster has arrived in Glasgow.

“He has been in the building, he travelled up last night so hopefully we can get that signed and sealed this afternoon.

Rooney gets his man

Derby County already look pretty sturdy at the back but Wayne Rooney has just strengthened his defence even further with the arrival of George Edmundson from Rangers.

The former Oldham Athletic youngster struggled for game time at Ibrox and has now joined former Stoke striker Lee Gregory at Pride Park in search of more regular minutes.

“They’re two good players. Players who I like – but more importantly they’re good characters,” Rooney tells the Record of Edmundson and Gregory (live blog, 3.15pm).

Bergkamp Jr arrives

After being denied the chance to follow in his legendary father’s footsteps at Arsenal, Dennis Bergkamp’s 22-year-old son will be looking to make a name for himself a few miles north instead (Goal).

Watford have announced the signing of Mitchel Bergkamp on an initial short-term contract until the end of the season (Mail).

The midfielder will play for Watford’s U23s team but will be hoping to catch the eye of first-team boss Xisco Munoz.
