Rangers striker Kemar Roofe said on talkSPORT (10:54am, December 4, 2020) that he and his teammates have thought about not letting Celtic win ’10 in a row’.

Roofe – who cost Rangers £4 million in transfer fee when they signed him from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020, as reported by The Daily Mail – has said that the players are focused on themselves and on their results.

However, the former Leeds United striker has admitted that he and his Rangers teammates have thought about not letting Celtic win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

The Hoops have won the league for the past nine seasons and are aiming to make it 10 titles in a row.

However, Neil Lennon’s side are not doing so well at the moment. Celtic are as many as 11 points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers, although Steven Gerrard’s team have played two more matches.

When asked by talkSPORT presenter Jim White if Rangers players think about stopping Celtic, Roofe said on talkSPORT (10:54am, December 4, 2020): “I would be lying if we don’t think about those sorts of things. We are playing this season, we are training so hard this season, it’s because we want to win silverware, we want to win the league and we want to win the cups, and that’s a natural thing that all players want to do. But it is all about Rangers. If we just keep doing what we have done so far, then we have got a good chance.”

Title challenge

Celtic cannot be dismissed, as the Hoops do have a good squad and will be determined to get things right.

The Scottish Premiership title race this season looks set to go down to the wire.
