Everton and Wolves both wanted to sign Nathan Redmond back in the summer transfer window – according to The Athletic.

It was said that Frank Lampard and Bruno Lage – who have since lost their jobs – were keen on a deal for the England international to boost their attacking options.

However, Redmond decided to ignore interest from Everton and Wolves to complete a £4m move to Besiktas.

Now, it seems as if the 29-year-old might have made a mistake.

What’s the story?

Well – at the time of writing – Redmond has only scored two goals in 18 Süper Lig appearances for the Turkish giants.

For what it’s worth, the Englishman has also provided two assists in those 18 Süper Lig outings.

Like Dele Alli, the Birmingham-born forward has struggled since moving to Besiktas back in the summer, and it now seems as if he would have been better off staying in the Premier League.

Redmond boasts 264 Premier League appearances to his name, and we believe he would have enjoyed a much more successful campaign had he decided to join Everton or Wolves instead.

Everton & Wolves boats have surely sailed for Redmond

In truth, we aren’t quite sure why Everton and Wolves wanted to sign Redmond anyway, given the fact he only scored one goal in 27 Premier League appearances last season.

Nevertheless, there was interest – according to a very reliable outlet in The Athletic.

Now – however – that interest has surely fizzled out, with Redmond struggling in Turkey while Lampard and Lage, the managers who wanted him, are no longer at Goodison Park and Molineux respectively.

Sean Dyche and Julen Lopetegui now find themselves holding the reins.

Hopefully, the Besiktas No.15 can find some form in Turkish football soon, as there is no denying that he is a talented player who can make a real impact in attack on his day.
