Paulo Fonseca has admitted that he is in the dark about his future at Roma after Crystal Palace held talks regarding a potential switch to the Premier League, as he told Sky Italia, via News AM.
If any one game could sum up Roma’s entire season, it was Sunday’s.
The Giallorossi started strong, taking an early lead away at Torino, before collapsing in the second half, their defensive deficiencies coming to the fore again during a 3-1 defeat which leaves the capital club seventh in Serie A.
A whole campaign encapsulated within 90 minutes.
Fonseca’s contract is due to expire in July.
And, according to Calciomercato, the former Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk boss will not be sticking around for a third year at the Stadio Olimpico, with results spiralling downwards and cavernous rifts appearing behind the scenes.
Fonseca won’t be out of a job for long, however.
Crystal Palace are planning for a change in the dugout themselves, identifying the 48-year-old Iberian as a successor for the veteran Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
Palace have already held talks with Fonseca’s representatives (CM).
“I don’t know if I will be the Roma coach next season, just that I will be the coach for the next game,” Fonseca said last night, when asked about his future.

“As I’ve always said, I am not remotely concerned with the future. All that matters now is Roma. The club owners have always been very close to us all and we feel their presence.”
Speaking to Sky in the aftermath of Thursday’s dramatic Europa League quarter-final victory over Ajax, the legendary Fabio Capello spelled out what Crystal Palace fans can expect from a coach who has accumulated an impressive nine trophies during his managerial career.
What Fonseca lacks in defensive organisation, he makes up for in attacking, exciting football.
