Liverpool have a new hero and his name is Diogo Jota.
The former Wolves attacker came off the bench to score the winner for the Reds in last night’s 2-1 vctory over West Ham United at Anfield.
Even when his first goal was ruled out by VAR, Jota kept plugging away and scored a legitimate one for the Premier League champions in the final 10 minutes.
The 23-year-old now has four goals for Liverpool in all competitions and although it’s still very early, the signs that he’s a class addition are unmistakable so far.
It was another second-half substitute in Xherdan Shaqiri who set up the Portuguese star’s winner on Saturday.
And here’s how the £45 million addition reacted to the goal – and the assist – on Twitter afterwards:
Jota’s Liverpool career is clearly on the rise, but Shaqiri’s might be coming back, too.
This is a player who the Anfield outfit tried to sell this past summer but the Switzerland international decided to stick around [The Daily Mail].
When fit, Shaqiri can be a decent squad player for Liverpool, as he proved last night, and it’ll be fascinating to see whether this assist brings about a return to form for the 28-year-old.
