Barcelona fans have suggested that they are now open to selling Marc Andre Ter Stegen to Newcastle United. 

Ter Stegen to Newcastle?

El Nacional have suggested that Newcastle are ready to break their transfer record to sign the goalkeeper.

AS Sport have also claimed that Newcastle have made an offer for the German.

Initially Barcelona fans may have been reluctant to see such a loyal servant to them leave at their time of need.

However, Ter Stegen may just have made one error too many this season now.

The 29-year-old had a nightmare last night as Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League thanks to a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, and he failed to keep out a long-range drive from Leroy Sane.

There are now plenty of Barca fans who feel that a move to Newcastle had suddenly become an appealing option for them.

And if the Magpies do make a sizeable bid, supporters of the Catalan side are seemingly open to letting their goalkeeper go now.

Will Barcelona sell?

Whether Barcelona’s stance will be similar to their supporters remains to be seen.

But despite Ter Stegen’s recent dip in form, the potential signing is surely an exciting one for Newcastle.

He remains one of the very best goalkeepers in world football and his arrival really would mark a new era for Newcastle.

The question would be whether Ter Stegen would be prepared to take the move to St. James’ Park at this stage.

Newcastle may be able to offer him a sizeable contract, but their future in the Premier League is not secure, and it would be a surprise if a player of Ter Stegen’s reputation was willing to sign up for a relegation battle.
