William Carvalho has further added to his impressive reputation, which has led Manchester United towards him.
Few Manchester United fans would have heard of William Carvalho before he was linked with them at the weekend, but he is really looking like a name to keep an eye on.
Carvalho is a 21-year-old midfielder who plays for Cristiano Ronaldo’s former club Sporting Lisbon, and there is reason there is a €45 million release clause in his contract.

Carvalho, eligible to play also for Angola, has so far pledged his international future to Portugal.
He spent last season on loan at Belgian side Genk, where he made more than 40 appearances and Sporting are reaping the rewards of his improvement.
So too are Portugal’s under-21 side. Carvalho was called into the squad for the first time in August and scored from the penalty spot in a 5-1 win over Norway in his second game.
Carvalho was on Thursday evening playing in his fourth match for the side, and continued his impressive form by scoring the opener in a win over Israel’s under-21 side.
It means he has two goals in four games, but both goals have come in the competitive fixtures.
His former Sporting teammate, now of Galatasaray, scored the second before an own goal made in 3-0.
Carvalho’s release clause is clearly ridiculous, and given Sporting’s recent cash troubles they would likely deal for a fraction of that.
So if Manchester United’s scouts were indeed watching they will have been impressed, and possibility of making a January move will remain on their radar.
