On Monday evening, Crystal Palace gave Arsenal a footballing lesson as they strolled to a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.
As the players walked off at full-time, with the Holmesdale Fanatics creating a vociferous atmosphere, there was an interesting moment.
Sadly, there is no footage, but having been at the game, we noticed that Eddie Nketiah simply couldn’t take his eyes off the Crystal Palace supporters as he spoke to Marc Guèhi walking towards the tunnel.
Interestingly, the south Londoners actually tried to sign the 22-year-old in the summer, and also in January, with his contract set to expire in June (The Times).
Now, we believe Crystal Palace’s 3-0 hammering of the Gunners has convinced the £45,000-a-week man to join the Eagles.
What’s the story?
Well, there’s more to it than a mere glance at the supporters, although Nketiah did look somewhat jealous that he wasn’t playing for the Crystal Palace fans.
Aside from that glance, we believe the Arsenal No.30 will fancy a move to SE25 due to the players already at Selhurst Park.
Nketiah – who boasts 17 caps for England’s Under-21 side – already knows the likes of Guèhi, Conor Gallagher and Eberechi Eze from international duty.
Therefore, he should have no problem settling in – especially as he won’t have to leave London – while the pull factor of Patrick Vieira is another significant factor.

Crystal Palace are building something special under Vieira, with youngsters like Michael Olise, Tyrick Mitchell and the aforementioned trio leading the way alongside the experienced Wilfried Zaha.
It’s an exciting setup to be involved in, specifically for a forward, and with free agency on the horizon for Nketiah, we are convinced that everything is in place for him to agree a move to Selhurst Park this summer.
