Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has raved about Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, as quoted in Goal.com.
Sterling, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has praised the Spaniard.
The England international worked with Arteta when the latter was a coach at City, and the 25-year-old has spoken highly of him and has hailed the impact he has made at the Gunners.
Sterling – who joined City from Liverpool in the summer of 2015 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £44 million – made the comments ahead of the Premier League game between the Citizens and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
The England international told Goal.com: “He’s a person that had a lot of say here. The manager trusted him here and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well. So I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in.
“And he’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal. They know if they don’t run they are most likely not going to play.”
The former Liverpool man added: “You can see the change that he’s brought in there, you can see the energy, you can see how much he’s put into them with their off-ball work.”
Big game today
Arsenal have done well so far this season, and although City have the better team on paper, the North London club will fancy their chances of winning against Pep Guardiola’s side.
After all, City suffered a heavy defeat to Leicester City and also failed to win against Leeds United before the international break.
With City not looking great defensively and the quality that Arsenal have in attack, they will be confident of scoring at the Etihad Stadium.
