Say it quietly but the man on Liverpool and Tottenham’s radar, Ibrahima Konaté, is a big fan of a certain Sergio Ramos.
Whilst Ramos is admired in North London, the same cannot be said for those on Merseyside given his previous dealings with the Premier League champions.
Not only does the Tottenham and Liverpool-linked Konaté see Real Madrid’s legendry figure as a hero, but he also thinks he is the ‘best defender in the world’, as he told UMM’s YouTube channel.
Suppose that means step aside Liverpool’s European Cup and Premier League winner Virgil van Dijk!?
Whilst Konaté looks up to Ramos, and why wouldn’t you given the medals he has in his cabinet, he may well be swapping Germany for England in the near future.
German outlet Bild previously claimed that the highly-rated RB Leipzig star has a £44 million release clause in his contract, with Tottenham battling Liverpool for the 21-year-old’s signature.
Nonetheless, Konaté is someone who has his sights set on big things in his career and he made it clear that he willing to ‘take risks’ to do that.

“I told in my heart and my head that if you want to be a big player then you need to take some risk,” said Konate.
“Today, I think I make the best decision and I hope I will take good decisions for the rest of my career.
On his idol: “My idol is Sergio Ramos. For me, Sergio Ramos is like Vegeta. He always works.
“Sergio Ramos is Sergio Ramos and he works every time. It’s, for this reason, I like him because he works every time and, for me, he is the best defender in the world today.”

It will be interesting to see whether Konaté ends up in the Premier League because his talents are destined for that direction.
His current Leipzig teammate, Dayot Upamecano, may well be heading to Bayern Munich at the end of the season, but those in England will be hoping Konaté ends up in their direction.
Spurs more than definitely need a fresh face and towering figure at the back, and whilst Liverpool purchased two CB’s in January, the duo weren’t the big-name players the Anfield supporters were craving.
