Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is being lined up for a rather controversial move to join PSV Eindhoven.

PSV Eindhoven are looking to snap up Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez after qualifying for the Champions League.

That is according to Eindhovens Dagbald reporter Rik Elfrink, who claims that PSV enquired into a move to sign Sanchez earlier this week.

The deal was too expensive then, but the situation has changed.

PSV qualified for the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night, hammering Rangers to bring in major funds.

PSV are now ‘expected to keep pushing’ for Sanchez’s signature ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Sanchez has seemingly been available all summer but Tottenham have been unable to move the 27-year-old on.

The Colombian could leave for PSV, which would make his saved penalty against Fulham on Tuesday night his final action in a Spurs shirt.

Davinson Sanchez could make controversial Tottenham exit

If Tottenham get a good enough offer for Sanchez, they probably won’t mind where he goes.

Yet Sanchez may be in for a hostile reception whenever PSV take on Ajax, if he does make the move to Eindhoven.

Sanchez joined Ajax from Atletico Nacional back in the summer of 2016 and produced an impressive debut season in the Netherlands.

Tottenham pounced with a £42million deal for Sanchez, luring him away after just a year in Amsterdam.

Fast forward six years and Sanchez could now return to the Eredivisie – but with a move to Ajax’s rivals PSV.

Feyenoord are Ajax’s biggest enemies but the PSV rivalry is a strong one too and seeing Sanchez make the move may hurt some Ajax fans.

The move will surely appeal to Sanchez; Champions League and the chance to work under Peter Bosz again having excelled under him at Ajax.

PSV could now make their move and Tottenham will be keen to get Sanchez moved on before the transfer deadline.
