Bryan Gil has been speaking to SPORT after he secured a loan move from Tottenham to Valencia on transfer deadline day.
What’s the story?
Well, the 20-year-old Tottenham forward sounds delighted with his move to the Mestalla, after a turbulent start to life in the Premier League.
Gil was signed in a £21.6m deal from Sevilla back in July, which saw Erik Lamela move to La Liga in the process.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo didn’t give him much playing time, while Antonio Conte has only handed him eight appearances.
Now, Gil has spoken out. The Spaniard told SPORT: “I want to gain a little more experience and work a lot. It is a special day for me. I wanted to be here. My family is also very happy. They wanted me to return to Spain and now it’s time to enjoy the team and the city.”
Clearly, those close to the £42,307-a-week man also wanted him to leave Tottenham and return to his homeland.
At the age of only 20, you can understand why Gil’s family may have been concerned about him struggling to adapt to life in England.
During a global pandemic, as well as a managerial change by Daniel Levy, you can also see why it has been been hard for the prodigy to adapt.
Tottenham must keep faith with Bryan Gil

Things haven’t been easy for Gil in north London this season, and we hope he can rediscover his spark while on loan at Valencia.
The 4-cap Spain international is a huge talent, who has been compared to Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar by Barcelona scout Vaya Ballabriga.
That speak volumes, and it would be foolish for Spurs to give up on the wonderkid so early – if they do, we think they’ll regret it.

Having said that, we’re not too sure where he fits into Conte’s system.
The Italian prefers to use a narrow shape with wing-backs providing the width, so unless Gil is moulded into an attacking full-back or a centre-forward, we’re not sure where he slots in.
Nevertheless, he is a huge talent, one Tottenham cannot waste.
