Cast your mind back six months and you’ll remember Tottenham Hotspur’s long, drawn-out hunt for a new manager.

Spurs were seemingly interested in every single gaffer on the market, be it Paulo Fonseca, Antonio Conte, Gennaro Gattuso or Nuno Espirito Santo, who, of course, eventually got the job.

One man Spurs reportedly looked at in their search for a new manager was Scott Parker, and while they didn’t go for the 41-year-old this time, they may want to keep an eye on what he’s doing at Bournemouth.

Parker may not have gotten the Spurs job this summer, but he did leave Fulham, replacing Jonathan Woodgate at the Cherries, and it’s fair to say he’s gotten off to a brilliant start on the south coast.

Indeed, Bournemouth are over a quarter of the way into the Championship season and they’re still unbeaten, sitting five points clear at the top of the league.

Parker may not play the most entertaining brand of football, but it is proving to be effective in the Championship. He’s yet to lose with Bournemouth and he got Fulham promoted in his only other season at this level.

Yes, he has also tasted relegation with Fulham, but it’s hard to truly implement your style of play when you have one of the weaker squads in the division. It’s clear to see that when Parker is handed a competent squad he can get results.

With each passing season, Parker is learning more and finding his identity in management and while this summer may have been too early for him to get the Tottenham job, don’t be surprised if he’s once again linked with a return to his former club a few years down the line.
