Back in January 2021, West Ham cut their losses on their club-record signing Sebastien Haller when selling him to Ajax for just £20.25m.
It was only in July 2019 that the Hammers spent £45m on the Frenchman, so it was quite a hefty loss for the east Londoners.
Now, Haller is making that decision look very silly indeed.
What’s the story?
Well, the 27-year-old has actually been one of the best strikers in Europe since leaving West Ham.
Haller recently made his 50th appearance for Ajax, and his record for the Dutch giants after reaching the landmark is phenomenal.
The towering frontman has scored 41 goals in those 50 outings, while also providing 15 assists.

Perhaps most impressive is Haller’s efforts in the Champions League.
He has netted ten goals in just six appearances in Europe’s greatest club competition, beating Erling Haaland’s record in becoming the first player to score over nine goals in their first five Champions League games.
Amazingly, the Ivory Coast international is averaging 1.12 goal involvements per game, which is incredible.
In hindsight, it was probably a bad decision by West Ham to let him leave the Premier League.
West Ham still haven’t replaced Sebastien Haller
It’s hard to believe that West Ham still haven’t replaced Haller, over a year on from selling him to Ajax.

David Moyes has been heavily reliant on Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen to deliver the goals, but he still needs to sign a new centre-forward.
Antonio is injury prone, and Bowen cannot do it all alone.
When the summer transfer window opens, Moyes must ensure West Ham add another centre-forward to the squad, as well as a new centre-back.
