Tottenham Hotspur should challenge Juventus for Federico Bernardeschi.
The 23-year-old has informed Fiorentina he does not wish to renew his contract and has asked to be made available for transfer.
Fiorentina’s Federico Bernardeschi in action
Italian champions Juventus are predictably favourites for his signature, but Bernardeschi’s situation should catch the eye of Tottenham too.
He has good reason to be, with Bernardeschi scoring against his Tottenham team in the Europa League in 2015.
2018 World Cup Qualifying
Bernardeschi recently featured for and starred with Italy’s under-21 side, but he also a senior Italy international who featured at Euro 2016.
Last season he scored 11 Serie A goals, 14 in all competitions, and five assists.
Fiorentina finished in eighth place last season and the opportunity to play Champions League football should be tempting.
A move to Juventus would be the safer option for Bernardeschi if he can secure it, but Tottenham shouldn’t give up before the chase has even started.
