A number of players will be leaving Liverpool this summer.

Divock Origi is expected to leave Liverpool as a free transfer in June and is already reported to have agreed a deal to join AC Milan.

And there’s Takumi Minamino, who has only managed 78 minutes of Premier League football all season.

The Japan international is another player who will definitely be on his way out of Anfield.

But the duo might well be joined by a certain Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

All three were left out of the FA Cup semi-final squad against Manchester City this afternoon and it sums up the latter’s decline on Merseyside.

The former Arsenal player joined Liverpool for £40 million during the summer of 2017.

But he is barely even a squad player under Jurgen Klopp now, having started only nine Premier League outings since August 2020.

And this omission this afternoon is an indication that Oxlade-Chamberlain, like Origi and Minamino, might also be leaving Liverpool this summer.

And so he should.

At 28, the England international is in the prime of his football career and what a horrible waste it would be if he spends another precious season riding the bench.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2023.

There will certainly be offers this summer and although he’ll never play for another club as big as the Reds, he could still get a decent move away.

His talent has never been in question and perhaps at his next club he can get the new lease of life that he desperately needs.

In fact, with every game likely to be a significant one for Klopp between now and the end of the season, it’s very possible that Oxlade-Chamberlain has already played his last game for the club – particularly in light of this omission.
