Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Brighton & Hove Albion to bring Yves Bissouma to Anfield during the summer.
According to The Sunday World, Liverpool’s Michael Edwards has made contact with Albion over signing the 24-year-old midfielder.
The Athletic have reported this month that the Seagulls want £40 million for the player.
With Arsenal also reportedly keen, there’s no guarantee Liverpool are going to sign him.
But Bissouma himself has dropped a pretty big clue that he may well leave Graham Potter’s side during the summer.
He said to The Argus: “I don’t have much to say about that because I’m at Brighton for the moment.”
Bissouma is clearly keeping his cards pretty close to his chest but his use of the phrase ‘for the moment’ reiterates what everybody in football knows and that is how quickly things can change.
Would he turn down Liverpool? Probably not because, after all, it’s Liverpool.
Not only that, but Jurgen Klopp needs him.
Klopp is about to lose Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer and with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also rumoured to be leaving, there’s going to be a lot of space in Liverpool’s midfield next term.
