Back in 2019, Dele Alli had the opportunity of a lifetime proposed to him, as Paris Saint-Germain made contact with Tottenham over a deal.

The England international was struggling to impress at Spurs, and it seemed his time in N17 had come to a natural conclusion, with a fresh start needed.

However, the chance to link up with Kylian Mbappe, under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, was taken from Alli by Daniel Levy.

According to the BBC, it was the 60-year-old who refused to negotiate with the French giants, with ESPN adding that José Mourinho was happy to sell Alli after freezing him out of the first-team.

The BBC also state that Alli became hugely frustrated at having a move to Paris blocked.

Now, we believe the 26-year-old will never forgive Levy.

What’s the story?

Well, had Alli left Tottenham for bigger and better things, he’d probably find room in his heart to forgive Levy.

However, with all due respect to the Toffees, he now finds himself at Everton, where he is being left on the bench by Frank Lampard.

After Burnley’s 2-0 win over Southampton last night, Everton are just one point above the relegation zone, so it’s possible Alli will become a Championship player in just a matter of weeks.

To go from the prospect of playing alongside Neymar and Mbappe in France, under a manager who knows how to get the best out of him, to struggling at Everton is quite the change in fortunes, to say the least.

Dele Alli must rediscover his prime Tottenham form

According to Sky Sports, Everton agreed to sign Alli in a deal which could reach £40m, so they clearly have faith in him.

Now, the man himself needs to rediscover some belief in himself, as he can quite clearly be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

In the 2016/17 season, when he was just 21, Alli remarkably scored 18 goals in 37 Premier League games, and 22 in all competitions.

Hopefully, he can rediscover these heights, as it would be extremely sad to see such a promising career fizzle out into nothingness.

If he doesn’t find that form again, he will never forgive Levy for taking away the chance of a lifetime.
