Declan Rice has admitted to Twitter that he’s been left ‘gutted’ after West Ham and Jack Wilshere mutually agreed to terminate the ex-Arsenal man’s contract.
The England international wrote: ‘Gutted. It was a privilege to get to train and play with you mate. Your going to be massively missed around the place, I wish you all the best in the future brother. Love ya.’
Wilshere signed for the Hammers in the summer of 2018, but has managed just 19 appearances in that time due to fitness issues and being unable to break into the side when fit.
Transfermarkt reveal that the diminutive midfielder missed a total of 53 games across his stint in east London, due to ankle problems as well as a groin issue.
At 28 years of age, the former Bournemouth man has insisted on Twitter in a lengthy statement – quote tweeted by Rice – that he is still capable of playing at the highest level.

The Stevenage-born midfielder also revealed that he’s been fully fit over the course of the last eight months.
However, he simply hasn’t been picked to play by David Moyes.

Rice – who The Times state earns £40k-a-week at the London Stadium – has clearly been hit hard by this news, expressing a great deal of sadness and empathy towards Wilshere’s situation.
As he’s now a free agent, the ex-Arsenal man has as much time as he wants to find a new club, and is under no restrictions as to where he can go – even after the transfer window ended.
