Arsene Wenger has claimed that he would offer Mohamed Salah a new Liverpool contract at £400k-a-week, as he told beIN SPORTS.

The former Arsenal boss added that Liverpool’s speed king is a ‘mixture of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’.

Both Liverpool and Salah seem to have hit a brick wall in negotiations regarding a new contract for the 29-year-old.

The Premier League’s top-scorer wants to stay at Anfield, those in the stands want him to enhance his legacy even further, but it seems as though those in suits can’t come to a compromise with the player and his agent.

As things stand, Salah’s contract, which is due to expire next summer, is without a signature, which will worry the Liverpool faithful.

But they will love what Wenger has had to say on this matter and he would have been in a fair few high-profile meetings during his days as a Premier League boss.

On whether he would pay Salah £400k, which would be cheap if Mbappe’s getting paid £1m? “£400k-a-week? Look every situation is different.

“You have to look at the medical record of the player. Never misses a game. You would do it.

“It depends as well on the physical qualities. If he’s quick, very quick, and he loses a bit, then he is still quick. If he’s already limited and slow, then you wouldn’t do it.

“Mo Salah, you would do it. He is a mixture of Ronaldo and Messi. He can run with the ball and give the final ball. I think he has improved a lot in giving the final ball.

“From August up until the Africa Cup of Nations, he was certainly the best player in the world. I have seen him score goals this season that are exceptional. On his own as well. Salah and Mane, you wouldn’t want to lose them because they become stars with Liverpool. Part of their history now.”

The only thing Salah can do right now is continue to put the ball into the back of the net and guide the Reds to more trophies.

Jurgen Klopp and his players have already added the League Cup to their name this term, but will they be able to add either the Premier League, Champions League or the FA Cup?

At the end of the campaign, regardless of what the club adds to their cabinet, what will they do with Salah?

Surely if he doesn’t pen down a new deal, then they have to sell him off? Either way, a big few months await Liverpool’s Egyptian flyer and the powers that be on Merseyside.
