HITC understands that Manchester United have reached an agreement on personal terms with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with a move for Manchester United for a long time and it appears a deal could well be edging ever closer.

The English defender would certainly not be the first player to swap the blue of Everton for the Red of United, or vice-versa, here are four players who have played for both Everton and United during their careers.

Wayne Rooney

Kicking off the list may well be the most famous export out of Everton’s academy and that is iconic English striker Wayne Rooney.

After bursting onto the scene as a 16-year-old, with a famous winning goal against Arsenal at Goodison Park, Rooney earned a move to Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The rest is history with Rooney becoming the club’s all time top goalscorer, winning multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.

Donny Van De Beek

Next on the list is United midfielder Donny van De Beek, who has played for both the Red Devils and the Toffees during his career.

The Dutch midfielder has struggled hugely since his £34 million move to the Premier League back in the summer of 2020.

Van de Beek struggled under former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was eventually shipped out on loan to Everton, but there he struggled too.

It is unclear what the future holds for the former Ajax midfielder, having spent time last season at Eintracht Frankfurt, but a move away from England will surely be his next move.

Maroaune Fellaini

Another name who has swapped Merseyside for Manchester was Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who was David Moyes’ only signing of the 2013 summer transfer window.

After United attempted to sign both Fellaini and left-back Leighton Baines, the Belgian midfielder arrived on deadline day.

The signing was a mixed one as the Belgian would often pop up with important goals from set-pieces but would struggle on other occasions to work in a modern team.

During his time in Manchester, Fellaini netted 22 times for the Red Devils and left the club as something of a cult hero.

Romelu Lukaku

The final name on this list, although there have been other players to play for both clubs, is Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku moved from Goodison Park to Old Trafford after United swooped in at the 11th hour, stealing the forward from under the noses of Chelsea.

Under Jose Mourinho, the Belgian initially flourished in his debut season but then went through a barren run of form.

It proved to be a rather unsuccessful time at Old Trafford for Lukaku who only spent two seasons at United before leaving for Inter Milan.

During his time at Old Trafford, Lukaku scored 42 goals and provided a furhter 12 assists.
