Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a bit inconsistent of late.
At his best, the 21-year-old can take the game to the best – as he did against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season.
Often, though, the Ox just doesn’t make the impact everyone now knows he is capable of.
Yesterday – paradoxically for Arsenal fans – the midfielder produced one of his better performances in an Arsenal shirt, with it counting for little as Swansea City beat the Gunners 2-1 in Wales.

As Opta stats show, Oxlade-Chamberlain was Arsenal’s best player in the face of defeat. He outshone all those around him – including £35 million summer signing Alexis Sanchez.
The Ox’s four chances created were a Premier League best across all matches on Sunday – so were his seven dribbles one. In the final third, meanwhile, he completed 11 passes, although that number was less than Sanchez’s and the ineffective Santi Cazorla’s.
The 20-year-old also took 64 touches of the ball, showing how willing he was to get involved – and it was with considerable ease that he beat Swansea defenders. A little like the ease with which Jefferson Montero coasted past Calum Chambers time after time.
With nine Oxs and a Sanchez and Danny Welbeck yesterday, the Gunners would have fared far better against Garry Monk’s men. Even if one of those Oxs was in goal…
