The Leeds summer signing functioned well in midfield during the 0-0 Championship draw.

Leeds United impressed with a steely performance at Reading on Sunday afternoon.

The Whites didn’t quite thrill in the final third – hence a goalless draw – but they kept Steve Clarke’s men at bay well despite playing 120 minutes (and an unsuccessful penalty shootout) at Doncaster Rovers as recently as Thursday night.

And, of those who traveled to Reading on Sunday, midfielder Tom Adeyemi was one of Leeds’ standout performers.

As Opta stats show, the 23-year-old produced a solid display in the middle of the park for Leeds.

He was bettered overall by full-back Gaetano Berardi in terms of the number of accurate passes he completed and the number of touches he took. But Adeyemi completed one more final-third pass than the Swiss and also won one more interception.

In the absence of Luke Murphy, Adeyemi is deputising well and, against Leeds, his performance in midfield summed up a solid display from Uwe Rosler’s men – one that is simply lacking the spectacular elements required in the final third.

It’s been a promising start to Adeyemi’s United career. More will hopefully be on its way.
