West Bromwich Albion secured an impressive 3-1 win against Swansea City at the Hawthorns.
West Bromwich Albion consolidated their position inside the top-half of the Premier League as they claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over Swansea City at the Hawthorns. And while Salomon Rondon took the headlines, it was perhaps the performance of teammate Chris Brunt that deserves just as much credit.
Tony Pulis’ men had to work hard to break the Swans down as the game remained goalless until the 50th minute. But then the floodgates opened as Rondon bagged a hat-trick in just 13 minutes to swiftly put the game beyond doubt.
West Bromwich Albion’s Chris Brunt
But the striker would have not enjoyed such a fantastic evening had it not been for the quality of crossing from winger Chris Brunt, who enjoyed a solid game for the Baggies.
| Assists | Total crosses | Accurate crosses | Tackles won | Total clearances | Duels won | Interceptions won | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Brunt | 2 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4 |
As well as making four interceptions, and contributing defensively, he also provided two of the assists with sumptuous balls into the box that Rondon gladly headed home.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis
Given how long Brunt spent on the sidelines due to injury before returning in October, his current form is incredibly impressive and it is not difficult to see why West Brom hope to agree a new deal with the utility man (via Daily Mail).
And Pulis will be hoping that he continues to put in performances of such quality as it will go a long way to ensuring that the side capitalise on their current position and finish the campaign in the top half.
