Harry Wilson was on target as Liverpool’s under-23 side beat Everton 2-0 in the ‘mini-derby’.
The Reds had taken an early lead through Brooks Lennon before Wilson doubled their lead after the break.
Wilson, a Wales youth international, commented on social media after the victory to express his excitement at getting on the scoresheet.
His goal was impressive, a 20-yard half-volley which left the Everton goalkeeper stranded.
Liverpool’s line-up for the fixture included centre-backs Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori, both bought under previous first team coach Brendan Rodgers.
Wilson had the honour of captaining the side in the match, a sign of the trust the management have in his personality as well as his precocious talent.

The winger is now 19, and needs a big season for the under-23s in order the catch the eye of first team manager Jurgen Klopp.
It is going well so far, in seven games for the under-23s this campaign he has four goals and three assists to his name, and could have put himself in the frame to feature in the squad against Tottenham this week in the EFL Cup.
He is in form, and in confidence, and despite the multitude of options at their disposal, Liverpool should consider naming Wilson in the squad for the upcoming clash.
