Albian Ajeti has hit out at former Celtic player Ramon Vega, after the 50-year-old raised question marks about his place in the Switzerland team.

What’s the story?

Well, Vega believes Ajeti shouldn’t have been called up by Murat Yakin, as he feels Michael Frey is better than the Celtic forward.

Blick quote Vega as saying: “I am surprised that Ajeti was called up. Frey would have been the better choice. I don’t see much dynamism and speed in Ajeti.”

We don’t feel Vega said anything too out of line there.

His comments were purely from a footballing aspect, and while he may have made some personal remarks, there was nothing too offensive.

However, it seems Ajeti has taken it badly, asking who Vega even is after Blick informed him of what was said.

The £4.5m man signed by Neil Lennon said: “Ramon Vega? Who is that? That’s his opinion, but he doesn’t make the line-up, so I’m less interested.”

It’s safe to say he isn’t very happy.

Was Ramon Vega right about Albian Ajeti at Celtic?

In fairness to Vega, we agree with him.

If we were to compare Ajeti and Frey, the latter is enjoying a much better season than Celtic’s No.10 is.

Frey has scored 12 goals in just ten Jupiler Pro League appearances so far this season for Royal Antwerp, while also providing one assist.

In Ajeti’s case, he has only scored three goals in 12 games across all competitions.

Hopefully, Vega’s comments can spark Ajeti into life, because he needs to improve under Ange Postecoglou.
