Scott Brown has taken one final shot at Rangers as a Celtic player.
Rangers finished the campaign with 102 points and no defeats as Steven Gerrard’s side lifted the Premiership title at Ibrox this afternoon.
Outside the stadium, there were wild scenes as swathes of Gers fans turned up to mark their first title in a decade.
Over in Edinburgh, Brown played his last game for Celtic in the 0-0 draw at Hibernian.
Rangers have recorded no defeats and therefore they have managed an Invincible season.
But with Brown as captain, Celtic won the domestic treble three years in a row and that, according to the man who cost the Bhoys £4.4 million in 2007, snubbing the Gers for Parkhead [The Record], represents ‘proper’ invincibility.
He said via The Record: “We’ve went proper Invincible throughout the whole season. We’ve done Treble after Treble after Treble and it’s not easy.”
Gerrard himself will be the first to admit that one trophy in three years isn’t good enough for Rangers.
But this is one hell of a way to kick off what everybody on the blue half of the Old Firm divide will hope could blossom into a dynasty, like Rodgers’s era in Glasgow.
Brown won’t be around to help Celtic win their title back next season, but there’ll be nobody more keen to see the Parkhead club wrestle supremacy back from the light Blues.
