Rangers are as many as 13 points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in second place in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment.
Steven Gerrard’s side do have a game in hand, and there are also two Old Firm derby games left to be played this campaign.
However, according to Sky Sports, the Scottish Premiership could be called off next week, with Celtic crowned champions.
Brown – who has been on the books of the Hoops since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million – believes that Rangers should just accept it if Celtic are awarded the title now.
Brown told BT Sport, as transcribed by The Scottish Sun: “Obviously we would have loved to have finished the season, been crowned champions and getting the trophy in front of our own fans at Celtic Park but it’s a difficult situation for everyone.
“It’s a different situation for us. We’re in a strong position, we know we were going to go on and go 16-19 points clear because we’re a top quality team.
“They came back, they had their opportunity to push on and they didn’t continue their run that they had.
“So I think from my behalf if I was in their situation, yes, I would especially when the season was already won at the end of December.”
Nine in a row
Amid the economic uncertainty caused by the global health crisis, it is hard to see the Scottish Premiership campaign resume anytime soon.
It would be best for all the clubs if the top flight of Scottish football is called now, so that everyone can start planning for the summer transfer window and for next season.
Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past eight seasons.
