Massimo Donati thinks he knows the reason why Celtic are struggling under Neil Lennon this season.
The former Bhoys midfielder told Tutto Mercato Web Radio: ‘Celtic has many problems. The season is not going well for now, and they say that tomorrow the coach is at the last chance. In my opinion, they are suffering a lot from the fact that they have to reach the ten-in-a-row, a pressure that players and staff are feeling a lot’.
Donati – who made 47 appearances for the Hoops – might have a point.
Securing ten Scottish Premiership titles in a row has never been done before by any club, so Celtic have the chance to breach unprecedented waters by doing so.
However, that will naturally carry a lot of pressure.

Having said that, these Celtic players have won trophy after trophy in recent seasons, and they should be able to carry that burden and not let it weigh them down.
Nevertheless, it is an interesting thought from Donati which explores the phycological aspect of why Celtic are currently struggling.
Lennon’s men have flopped in Europe with just one point from their four games, while they are also now out of the Scottish League Cup after losing to Ross County.

The Hoops are also 11 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. However, Celtic have two games in hand, so not all hope is lost.
There is still time to salvage the ten-in-a-row, although if the players are feeling the pressure as Donati believes, it is Lennon’s job as manager to get that monkey off their back.
