Rumoured Everton target Marcus Thuram has seemingly shot down the possibility of signing for Bayern Munich amid recent reports linking the Borussia Monchengladbach star to the Bundesliga giants.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the 25-year-old attacker revealed that he is taking each day as it comes following a boost of transfer interest, with Thuram set for a move in the January window as the forward enters the final six months of his contract with Gladbach.

TZ have recently reported that Bayern are interested in signing Thuram with journalist Graeme Bailey suggesting that the Bundesliga striker is also on Everton’s radar, with Frank Lampard set to add to the Toffees’ attack in the new year to help the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anthony Gordon.

Despite being valued as highly as £38m by Gladbach as reported by Bild, there’s a strong sense that Thuram could leave the Foals for a much cheaper transfer fee. And for Everton, Bayern’s interest could pose a serious threat for the Premier League side in January.

However, Thuram himself has seemingly backed away from talk of a transfer to Bayern in 2023, with the attacker being fairly candid in his response to recent rumours linking the France international to the European and German giants.

Thuram said: “Bayern is a very big club. But it is really day after day for me. What would be the point of projecting myself three years ahead? My ambition is to become the best player possible. So, if I want to become the best Marcus possible, it’s tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, not in two years.”

Bayern signing Everton target Thuram still feels like a possibility

Thuram’s mindset might already be focused, but the possibility of Bayern signing the striker still feels as strong as it has been since links emerged earlier this month. And for Everton, missing out on the forward would be quite the blow for Lampard’s transfer plans.

After all, the English coach could do with a quality attacking option who can play in numerous positions in the front line, and Thuram fits the bill to a tee. Yet Bayern will always now remain a threat for the Toffees in this transfer race, which seems to be heading to only one conclusion.
