Yes it was only a friendly, but a striker linked to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur still demonstrated his nous up front on Sunday regardless of how important the game was.
Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina showcased his ruthless goalscoring talent by scoring seven of the things yesterday.
The red-hot 21-year-old marksman, whom Tottenham and Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign, stole the show as the Serie A outfit thrashed Foligno 11-0.
On July 1, Football London reported that Spurs had opened talks with the Italian side over bringing him to the capital, while Inside Futbol claimed in April that Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp had held discussions over taking the Serbian hitman to Anfield.
Who needs him more?
There’s no argument against Tottenham and Liverpool both needing a goalscorer of this quality before the transfer window shuts.
Roberto Firmino, for all of his skill and link play, only scored nine goals in all competitions for Klopp’s side last season, while Harry Kane is heavily tipped to be leaving North London.
And for that reason, Spurs need him more. Much more.
Firmino isn’t Liverpool’s best player and therefore if you take him out of the equation, you still have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota.
Do the same at Tottenham and all they have without Kane is, well, Son Heung-min.
Beyond him, it starts getting grim when you consider the Lilywhites’ goalscoring options and that’s why the Fiorentina number nine – valued at £36 million – is far more needed by Nuno Espirito Santo and Daniel Levy, than Klopp and Edwards.
