Liverpool and Manchester City have both secured their blockbuster deals for the summer transfer window already.
The Reds broke their transfer record in bringing Darwin Nunez to Anfield in an £85 million deal, whereas Pep Guardiola is the envy of Europe by boasting a certain Erling Haaland up front following his move from Borussia Dortmund.
However, Liverpool’s Nunez and Manchester City’s Haaland have been tipped to be beaten to the Golden Boot in the Premier League next term.
Mohamed Salah of Anfield and Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min shared the award last term, with both scoring 23 goals.
And former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique is backing Salah to win the individual prize again next season, despite the increased competition.
Here’s what the Spaniard posted on Twitter:
If Salah – a £36.9 million signing in 2017 – does win the Golden Boot, as predicted by the former Liverpool man, he’ll have to improve.
Not only because of the increased competition from Haaland and Nunez, but because the Egypt international struggled during the second half of last season.
Sixteen of his 23-goal haul in the Premier League came during the first half of the campaign, highlighting his dip in form from January onwards.
However, in terms of pedigree, Nunez and the new Manchester City hitman will know that the likes of Salah are the ones to beat.
