Ismaila Sarr was left out of Watford’s squad last night, amid links that he could still move to Liverpool.
France Football insisted yesterday that Liverpool remain interested in Sarr, even though they have already landed Diogo Jota this summer.
And Sarr was not around for Watford’s League Cup match against Newport County, seemingly due to the speculation around his future.
Watford certainly missed Sarr in his absence, as they crashed to a 3-1 defeat against their lower league opponents.
It should be noted that the Hornets did name a rotated side for the game, but plenty of first-team players featured.
And Sarr’s absence appears to have something to do with the continued speculation over his future, with Vladimir Ivic saying that he couldn’t count on the forward currently before the game, despite him being fit to play (Watford official website).

If Liverpool did land Sarr it would be a surprise, given they have already landed Jota, but his arrival would still be exciting.
Sarr and Jota would give Liverpool some fierce competition for places in attack, and would add some huge depth to Jurgen Klopp’s options.
If Sarr is to leave Watford it is claimed that he would cost around £35 million by France Football.
