Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has taken to his Instagram story and used the word ‘class’ to describe the joint photo between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

On Saturday, fashion brand Louis Vuitton broke the internet when they released an image of the PSG forward and the Manchester United star playing chess together.

It has racked up millions and millions of likes on social media, including Ronaldo and Messi releasing the image simultaneously on their Instagram accounts (Cristiano & Leo Messi).

ICON V ICON

For years and years, the now-ageing footballing greats have dominated the landscape on football’s biggest stage, scoring goals for fun and producing performances in highly-pressured situations.

From numerous league titles, Ballon d’Or achievements, European Cups, the Copa America and the European Championships.

They have all landed in their trophy cabinet time and time again.

But one trophy that alludes them both is the biggest of them all – the FIFA World Cup.

For some, it would be a fairytale story if the world of football could have one last dance. One more match-up. Icon v Icon. Generational figure vs Generational figure at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This is probably one of the stronger squads Argentina have had for many, many years, whilst Portugal are also littered with some top talent.

If the above photo broke the internet with that photo, then the world will stand still on December 18 for 90 minutes, if it’s indeed a Ronaldo v Messi final.
