Liverpool finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy. The 30-year wait for the title is over and Jurgen Klopp’s men now have to prepare for their defence next season.

This Liverpool side really is special. Many of the players grew up watching stars like Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Xabi Alonso and even Luis Suarez do fantastic things for the club but all of them failed to achieve what this squad has.

However, those players are still an inspiration to players and millions of football fans across the globe. Premier League champion Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain feels that it is his and his teammates’ duty now to inspire the next generation, just like Gerrard once inspired him.

The £35 million signing from Arsenal (BBC) told Liverpool’s official website: “You can’t take moments and nights like this for granted. You can’t take playing for an amazing football club like this with fans that care so much, you can’t take that for granted.”

“So, as a player you need to seize those sorts of moments. We are here for a short time. We have our little spells hopefully making history at this football club, we’ve got to do our bit to inspire the next generation like Steven Gerrard inspired me.”

Gerrard, in particular, is the one Liverpool player that a ton of people looked up to. The former Reds skipper quality on the pitch and the way he led his side through the ups and downs make him a real inspiration and Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to be the same in the future.

The last two seasons have truly been phenomenal for the Reds. However, the toughest period for them is now. Liverpool are now the side to beat and the Premier League’s big boys will strengthen heavily to make that happen next season.

Klopp will know that it won’t be easy to keep his side as motivated as they have been since the start of the season. However, not many people will bet against him to do it, especially after how he has transformed Liverpool over the last few years.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping to play a bigger part next season. His goal against Chelsea on Wednesday will give him a ton of confidence and he will hoping that injuries won’t hamper his progress next term.
