Alex Iwobi has ‘struggled’ at Everton for large parts, after he was going to be a ‘superstar at Arsenal’, according to Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison.
The former striker thinks, under Frank Lampard, there has been an improvement from Iwobi.
But it has been a ‘big struggle’ for the player following that £34 million transfer from Arsenal to Everton in 2019 (BBC Sport).
Whilst the Gunners are hoping to secure Champions League football with only a few games of the season remaining.
It’s a completely different task for Iwobi at Goodison Park because his Everton side are hoping to avoid relegation for the first time in over 50 years.
Lampard has used Iwobi in a ‘wing-back’ role, as Morrison touched upon his new position and what was expected of him at Arsenal, as he told Sky Sports News.
“What he is doing now is playing as a wing-back,” said Morrison. “When he was at Arsenal, he was further up the field as a winger. Now his defensive duties have been good.
“It has been a big struggle for him (at Everton). But Frank Lampard has found a position for him because sometimes he has put him in the middle as a three. He’s really positive as a wing-back and done well.
“He has got more ability. He should be creating more chances for how they thought he was going to be a superstar at Arsenal and then Everton paid massive money for him to go there.
“I still think there is time for him and it seems as though he has found a position.”

FRANK LAMPARD TO IGNITE IWOBI’S CAREER?
There’s no doubt that Iwobi has performed better under Lampard than any other manager at Goodison Park.
Could the Chelsea legend finally take Iwobi’s career to heights some in north London expected it to hit?
The issue facing the versatile forward is that he hasn’t been impactful enough in games, nor has he been consistent regarding performances.
But, if Everton survive, then next season could perhaps be a chapter of Iwobi’s career that can finally see him take off.
