Harry Kane scored yet another hat-trick on Tuesday night as Tottenham beat APOEL Nicosia 3-0.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane continued his goalscoring heroics on Tuesday night with a hat-trick against APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.
Spurs were looking for a second Champions League win of the group stage having beaten Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in their opening game two weeks ago – and they got what they wanted.
Kane opened the scoring in a nervy first half performance, slotting home with his left foot after being played in on goal, and he built on that in the second half.
Kane made it 2-0 with a calm right-footed finish from the edge of the penalty area, and he then grabbed a hat-trick by heading home Kieran Trippier’s cross, completing a perfect treble.
That’s Kane’s sixth hat-trick of 2017 and his ninth goal in his last five games in all competitions, but one stat is even more impressive for Kane – and damning for West Ham United.
Kane has now scored 34 goals in all competitions in 2017, whilst West Ham have only found the net 35 times, meaning there is every chance that Kane can finish 2017 with more goals than the entire West Ham side combined.
The stat sums up all involved; Kane’s goalscoring feats are bordering on the super-human at this stage, and another hat-trick proved that he can be utterly unstoppable in front of goal, and Spurs have one of the top strikers in the world.
Meanwhile, it shows just how West Ham have struggled in attack this year. Slaven Bilic pushed hard for Javier Hernandez to sign over the summer, and whilst he has made a strong start to the season, he needs more goals around him, which won’t be easy given West Ham’s recent record when it comes to signing strikers.
Oh how they would love Harry Kane to be in claret and blue, rather than turning out for Tottenham.
