Emiliano Buendia has admitted that he ‘can’t wait’ to play in front of Aston Villa fans this afternoon.
Aston Villa are set to welcome their supporters back inside the stadium as Dean Smith’s side host Newcastle United later today.
Villa broke the bank on signing Buendia in a £33 million deal from Norwich City.
With Jack Grealish gone, there’s a vacancy for somebody to become the club’s new on-the-field hero and Buendia certainly has the quality to fill that void.
On Friday, Aston Villa highlighted the fact that thousands upon thousands of fans will be returning today.
And here’s how the Argentine playmaker responded to that tweet:
Big day
Aston Villa lost their Premier League opener last week but Smith’s troops need to get a win on the board.
Yes it’s only their second game of the season but, by the same token, they don’t want to start the campaign in a funk.
As mentioned, Grealish has gone to Manchester City in a £100 million deal and this is a chance for the Aston Villa lads to prove that they certainly are not and weren’t ever a one-man team.
And there’s major pressure on the likes of Buendia to step up to the plate.
The good news is that Newcastle also lost their Premier League opener after going down 4-2 to West Ham United at home.
