Speculation is rife that Leeds United are interested in Michy Batshuayi.
The Belgian striker seems to have virtually no long-term future at Chelsea and according to The Telegraph, Leeds are interested in a summer swoop.
It’s a strange one because the Whites already have two strikers in the form of Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo.
And going by his past comments, Batshuayi may be quite a fan of the latter.
Leeds spent £30 million on signing the Spaniard from Valencia last summer in what was a club-record transfer.
Batshuayi moved to Valencia on loan from the Londoners in the summer of 2018 and here’s what he said ahead of becoming team-mates with Rodrigo.
He said: “Valencia have fantastic fans and their players are very good, with a lot of quality. For me, it’ll be great to share a team with Rodrigo.”
In the end, the 27-year-old, who earns £90,000 per week at Stamford Bridge, didn’t get to play alongside the current Leeds star all that much after starting only four La Liga games for the Mestalla club, before being sent back to Chelsea the following January.
It remains to be seen whether the Batshuayi – who cost £33 million in 2016 – speculation is credible.
But he certainly seems a fan and with the Spaniard more of a number 10 these days anyway due to Patrick Bamford’s form, the former Marseille hitman, who has played under Marcelo Bielsa in the past, may well fancy another stint in the same team as Rodrigo.
