According to The Times, Tottenham target Alexander Sorloth is expected to join RB Leipzig for £25 million.
The Bundesliga side, who reached the Champions League quarter-finals last term and have qualified for the competition again, appear to have beaten Jose Mourinho to the striker.
Trabzonspor president Ahmet Ağaoğlu confirmed the club was talking to Tottenham, Leipzig and Crystal Palace about the Norway international.
Palace are involved in the deal as it was the Eagles who loaned Sorloth out to Turkey on a two-year deal.
The ex-Midtjylland striker hit 33 goals in all competitions for Trabzonspor last term, hence why clubs of Spurs and Leipzig’s stature are chasing him.
However, it looks as if Mourinho will need to turn his attentions elsewhere.
The Bundesliga side even teased a possible announcement on Tuesday.
Leipzig tweeted “King of the North” with a crown emoji.
Interestingly, that’s the nickname given to Sorloth by his international teammate Erling Braut Haaland, as well as one typically handed to him by media outlets.
Tottenham’s other striker targets include Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik, although Mourinho could also lose out on him as Roma reportedly have an agreement.
That leaves Torino frontman Andrea Belotti, who Spurs have tried – and reportedly failed – to get on a season-long loan.
It remains to be seen which marksman arrives in north London.
However, The Times report suggests it won’t be Sorloth teaming up with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
