Romelu Lukaku has seemingly gone cold on the idea of joining Inter Milan, despite the Belgian forward not returning to Chelsea training in a bid to force through a move to the Italian club.
But, it now seems the forward has changed his mind on the possibility of moving to the San Siro. That’s according to Repubblica, who claim that Chelsea and Inter actually agreed on a fee for the Belgian forward but Lukaku has stopped responding to the Serie A club’s calls.
This comes after a separate story from Corriere della Sera that stated that Lukaku is tempted by an offer from Juventus, with Massimiliano Allegri’s side offering €12 million (£10 million) a season in wages for the forward.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also reported that the £325,000-a-week (The London Evening Standard) striker has not given an answer to Inter, but is speaking to Juventus, which has understandably infuriated last season’s UEFA Champions League finalists.
The report further claims that Juventus need to sell to be able to afford the Belgian forward, with Dusan Vlahovic named as the player who could bring in the most money for the former Serie A champions.
It would be surprising if Juventus were able to afford the 30-year-old considering their financial situation which is why a move to Inter remains the most likely option.
Inter still the most likely destination for Chelsea striker Lukaku
Inter, who are on the verge of selling Andre Onana to Manchester United, were reportedly set to use the money to complete the signing of the Belgian forward.
The San Siro remains Lukaku’s most likely destination purely because of both clubs’ financial situation and which club is in a better situation to offer Lukaku, and Chelsea, the wages and the fee required.

This saga could be completed soon, however, with United and Inter close to closing the deal for Onana to make the move to Manchester.
With Juventus relying on the sale of Vlahovic, which isn’t as advanced as Onana’s is, the coast seems clear for Inter to complete the signing of the forward.
