Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has said that Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could get fed up with the Blues if results do not improve.

The former Arsenal star has raved about Chelsea and Argentina international midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Merson has noted that Fernandez is “different class” and has suggested that the £315,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder could eventually leave if Chelsea continue to struggle.

Chelsea signed Fernandez from Benfica in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners paid £106.8 million in transfer fees for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Fernandez signed an eight-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge to keep him at the club until the summer of 2031.

The youngster has made 22 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Fernandez has given two assists in those games.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Mauricio Pochettino will get it right because he’s a good manager, but it’s going to be hard. If they get in the top four then they will be pulling up trees.

“They’ve bought too many players that are the same. Enzo Fernandez is different class – a cut above the rest. But how long will he stand for this?”

No need to worry about Enzo Fernandez

We do not think that Chelsea fans need to worry about the future of Enzo Fernandez.

There is no way that the 22-year-old will leave the Blues anytime soon.

First of all, Chelsea handed the Argentina international a long-term contract.

So, Fernandez cannot simply force a move out of Stamford Bridge in the next few years.

Chelsea will surely demand a huge transfer fee for the youngster if indeed they are forced to sell him.

And that will be more than what they paid for the midfielder.

Moreover, Fernandez earns a massive salary at the Blues.

Money is hugely important in football, as in life, and it is unlikely that the Argentina international will itch for a move away anytime soon.
