Speculation is mounting that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Sergio Ramos this month.
The legendary Real Madrid defender is out of contract in the Spanish capital this summer and with no sign of an extension in place, the Liga champions must sell him in January or risk losing him for free in June.
As a result, there are rumours about him leaving and according to The London Evening Standard, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho – who managed him at the Bernabeu – is keen on a reunion.
The Spurs coach is said to be keeping tabs on the 34-year-old, but there’ll be nothing to see from Ramos tonight.
That’s because Marca has reported that Zinedine Zidane is leaving him out of his squad for the clash with Celta Vigo later on due to a ‘stomach problem’.
At this time of the year, with the transfer window open, it’s always interesting – and curious – when linked-away players are left out of squads, but Zidane said ahead of tonight’s game that he wants Ramos to sign a new deal with the club.
There doesn’t seem to be any lingering bad blood between coach and player – who earns £312,000 per week right now – but it’ll be fascinating to see what comes over the next few weeks.
