Since Carlo Ancelotti allowed Oumar Niasse to leave Everton in 2020, it’s been a tough ride for the 31-year-old as he attempted to find a new club.

The Senegalese striker thought he’d settled at Huddersfield, after the Terriers gave him a contract following a few training sessions.

However, Niasse picked up an injury, and never made an appearance before that contract expired.

Now, the former Everton man has finally found himself a new home.

What’s the story?

Well, the man who cost Everton £13.5m in 2016 has now landed at Burton Albion, who did not disclose the length of his contract.

The League One outfit have taken a gamble on Niasse after he spent some time training with them, and it will certainly be interesting to see how he does.

In 42 appearances at Goodison Park, the former Lokomotiv Moscow striker scored just nine goals.

With all due respect, Niasse has to be considered as one of the worst signings in Everton’s history, given the transfer fee involved.

Oumar Niasse was hard done by at Everton

Overall, Niasse could’ve done much better at Everton, although it’s hard not to feel sorry for him after hearing how Ronald Koeman treated him.

The Dutchman took away Niasse’s locker at Finch Farm, and also made him train with the Under-23 side, as the Guardian reveal.

Furthermore, Koeman stripped Niasse of his shirt number, and he also wasn’t given a locker in the Under-23 setup either, instead just leaving his things in a bag on the floor.

Speaking to the Guardian at the time, Burton Albion’s newest recruit said: “It’s sad, it’s really sad.”

Of course, Niasse failed to impress at Everton, but he had done nothing to deserve such horrible treatment from Koeman.
