£30 million Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo wants to leave the French champions and is keen on the idea of playing under Steven Gerrard at Premier League outfit Aston Villa, as reported by Le Parisien.
PSG appear to be making some progress at last as they look to trim some fat from a bloated and gout-ridden squad.
Gini Wijnadlum has gone to Roma. Thilo Kehrer to West Ham United. Ander Herrera has been released. Idrissa Gana Gueye could still end up back at Everton, while Fulham are pressing ahead for Layvin Kurzawa.
And Diallo, having been left on the bench for all four of PSG’s matches so far under Christophe Galtier, reportedly views a potential move to Aston Villa with what the foreign press often refer to as ‘good eyes’.
In other words, he’s keen on the idea.

Senegal international Diallo, a £30 million signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, has just two years left on his Parc des Princes contract. PSG, the report adds, may be willing to accept as little as £9 million now.
And the France-born 26-year-old ticks a lot of boxes for Aston Villa. The Midland giants want a centre-half to fill in for the injured Diego Carlos. Preferably a left-footed one. Diallo, then, would be a very welcome addition, not to mention a far more convincing one than Southampton’s error-prone Jan Bednarek.
According to The Athletic, Diallo turned down Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer. How he must wish he could turn back the clock. Diallo perhaps thought, at the time, that he could still force his way back into the PSG picture.
Now, having failed to do just that, he has just one week left to find a new club. And three months in the Parc des Princes stands would hardly be an ideal situation for a man hoping to feature for Senegal at the Qatar World Cup.
