Tottenham have long been on Luke Shaw’s radar.

Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw, with SkyBet listing them as favouritres to land the England international.
The Sun report Shaw is keen on a move to Spurs so he would have the chance to link up with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Yet Tottenham and Shaw have been on each other’s radars a long time, pre-dating Pochettino’s arrival at White Hart Lane.
The Mail reported in late 2013 that Tottenham held a strong interest in the defender, but were put off by Southampton’s lofty £30 million valuation.
The report also claimed that Shaw wanted the move to happen: “Should Shaw move on it is thought he would prefer a move to White Hart Lane due to limited first-team opportunities being available at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.”

Shaw moved on the very next summer, signing for Manchester United, who paid Southampton’s asking price.
His path to the first team was clear, with Patrice Evra allowed to move on and join Juventus.
Shaw was unfortunate with injury in his second season at the club, but he only has himself to blame for failing to nail down a spot in the two seasons he has been fully fit.
