Everton defender Yerry Mina has confirmed he is saying goodbye to the club after today’s game against Bournemouth.

The Toffees face they date with destiny this afternoon.

Sean Dyche’s men sit outside of the relegation zone but aren’t safe yet and still need a result against Bournemouth.

Everton fans will be on edge all day long, nervously checking results from Leeds United and Leicester City in what could be a dramatic final day.

One Everton player has already admitted that this is his final game for the club though with Yerry Mina on his way out.

The Colombian defender joined Everton in a £30million move from Barcelona back in the summer of 2018.

Analysing his time at Goodison Park is a little tricky.

When fit, Mina is probably the best centre back at Everton and should be in the team on a regular basis.

Sadly, Mina has suffered injury problems throughout his time on Merseyside and has just missed too many games.

Mina – who scored a vital equaliser late on against Wolves last weekend – has now revealed that he is leaving Everton.

Mina has taken to Instagram to state – as transcribed by the Liverpool Echo – that it’s ‘time to say goodbye’ and that this is his last game for Everton.

The giant centre back vowed to keep Everton in the Premier League, believing a ‘special moment’ is on the way today.

“Hello Toffees, I hope you are good. I have a message and invitation for you. This Sunday I will play my last game for Everton Football Club,” said Mina. “It’s time to say goodbye after five years together. I want to say thank you, for your support and love. It has been a privilege and honour to wear this shirt and represent you.”

“For this reason I invite you all to attend this ‘Last Dance’ at Goodison Park, this last battle that we have to fight. We need your help and your fight. Because together we are going to stay in the Premier League, where this great club should always be. It will be a special moment, full of emotion and memories. I am sure that we will make it. Come on boys. Last push. Come on boys. We are together. Yes Toffees!” he added.

Could Newcastle United rekindle Yerry Mina interest?

Mina is bound to attract major interest as he becomes a free agent this summer with his contract running out.

Newcastle United were very interested in signing Mina shortly after their takeover last season.

TEAMtalk reported in January 2022 that Newcastle were hoping to lure Mina to St James’ Park.

However, no deal materialised and it feels a little like the window to joining the Magpies has closed.

Newcastle are preparing for Champions League football next season and may now be aiming higher than Mina.

The Magpies will likely target another right-footed centre back this summer with Jamaal Lascelles likely to move on.

Mina could fill that role but a lot has changed in the last 18 months; Newcastle aren’t fighting relegation any more and are looking for top talents.

Mina may not fit the bill anymore and it remains to be seen whether today is not only his final Everton appearance, but his final Premier League appearance.
